Tribute to Egberto Gismonti`s and Hermeto Pascoal`s music

André Mehmari & Hamilton de Holanda releasing "gismontipascoal" duo's second album

Hermeto Pascoal and Egberto Gismonti: two pillars of modern Brazilian music are the inspiration and motivation for the new gathering of the award winning musical duo André Mehmari and Hamilton de Holanda. Legitimate representatives and guardians of this beautiful and long tradition of musicians, the duo plays with precision and spontaneity the genius compositions of the masters, in a minimalist but surprisingly colorful duo of piano and mandolin. The repertoire includes classics from Hermeto and Egberto, Frevo, São Jorge (St. George), Clown, Loro and Untouchable, as well their own compositions as Menino Hermeto, Chorinho pra Eles and a tribute to the visionary duo with the beautiful and simple "Gismontipascoal," the first compositional partnership of Andre and Hamilton, presented in two contrasting versions.

Crowning the work, the very presence of Egberto in "Speak of passion" and Hermeto "Music of the clouds and the ground" on the CD is fresh, bright and unforgettable: the listener is moved by a timeless celebration of great music without labels, in a Continuous Friendship.

On stage, the duo's constant exchange of ideas has proven to be an stimulating musical experience, a true celebration of great modern Brazilian music, without labels.

It's beauty in favor of art as Hermeto says "who plays an instrument can`t be the instrument of the instrument ever" and the  Egberto`s desire "retribution that desire is very difficult for some people, obviously not for you: I wish that you continue forever guardians of Brazilian music, remembering always that music is much greater than us all. "

Andre Mehmari Pianist, arranger, composer and instrumentalist was born in 1977. Regarded as one of the most exciting and original musicians of the new Brazilian scene. Multiple award-winning in both classical and popular music, Mehmari is frequently asked to compose for some of the most expressive orchestral and chamber music ensembles of Brazil and also abroad.  One highlight is the creation of orchestral suites for the opening ceremony of the Rio Pan-American games 2007 that took place on the legendary Maracanã Stadium. As a performer he has played and recorded with Milton Nascimento, Sergio Santos, Guinga, Monica Salmaso, Ná Ozzetti, Gabriele Mirabassi, Toninho Horta, Dori Caymmi, Edu Lobo, among many other names of Brazilian popular music. His extensive and varied discography comprises many solo projects, including a latin Grammy-nominated CD, as well as the celebrated duets with instrumentalists and singers.

Hamilton de Holanda 35 years, 30 years of professional career. Transgressor of the instrument and creator of a revolutionary technique, the press in the USA immediately called him "Jimmy Hendrix of the mandolin" and France's "Prince of the mandolin."Virtuoso, bright and unique are some of the adjectives in the life of musician, who infects audiences touring throughout the world, building a career of numerous awards for music focusing on beauty and spontaneity. Hamilton is a musician who combines tradition and modernity passing smoothly through the different formations (solo, duo, quintet, orchestra), thus consolidating a way to expose musical ideas and impressions about life with "the heart at your fingertips."

Hamilton uses mandolin Tercio Ribeiro and Elixir strings.
